These are the drills we use to teach a screw. As you develop a feel for the unique release of this pitch, pay attention to which drills help you dial in your pitch the most. The goal isn't to mindlessly go through every drill; find your spin, get it loose so you can start working on what you need to focus on that day.

It’s a common misconception that you need to lean to “make” a screwball move. As seen in the video, the spin is what makes the ball move, so watch as we explain how to throw a screw!
You don’t need to step off-line or lean to get your screw to work, it’s all about spin and having a smooth finish! In this video, we also show the comparison of what it is and isn’t supposed to look like.
With any 75% pitch, this is where we really want to feel what our body is doing in our pitch. With screw, make sure you’re staying on line, and not forcing your arm away from your body. Remember - pitches don’t move because you force your arm in a direction, they move based on how you spin the ball.
As stated in our earlier progressions, you don’t need to butt out and force your arm inside to throw a screwball. In fact, we still want everything to be going straight!
