Dropball
While the dropball and fastball are the same pitch, it’s important to us to have a section that really focuses on the spin of that pitch and ways you can improve it, rather than just the usual warm up drills where we focus on mechanics.

Spinners are a great tool to use to get the feel down on any of your pitches, but in this video we specifically cover fastball/dropball. Don’t rush these! Your focus should be on feeling the ball roll off the top of your pointer and middle finger.
First things first, a fastball and dropball are the same pitch! They have the same spin (12-6), so therefore they are the same.
Using a small ball is helpful for pitchers working on getting the right spin on the ball. Really focus on your fingers (because your fingers spin the ball, not your wrist), and feel that follow through on your power line!
The rollover drop can be a great off-speed or down pitch, especially for pitchers who struggle to get their fastball to drop or those who don’t have a strong change up. It’s not as extreme of a release as people think, so in this video we talk about what to focus on for this release.
